Volkswagen Motorsport is all ready for a new season of the World Rally Championship with the 2017-spec car. The company in fact has provided a first glimpse of the 2017 Polo R WRC which is set to feature a plethora of changes compared to its predecessor.

The monster has been developed to comply with the 2017 FIA World Rally Championship regulations. It's 50mm wider than the current version and has also undergone a significant diet plan which sees it lose 25 kg. The development of the car had started since the summer of 2015 and will come with an electronic centre differential for the power transmission.

From what we can see of the teasers, the folks at Volkswagen Motorsport have thoroughly modified the body which now features a more prominent front spoiler along with a bigger rear wing. Many of the new components have already been tested in the current chassis and the 2017-spec car is currently undergoing the final phase of development.

There will also be a burst in power too in the new car will see an increase in output of 60bhp. The total power will now stand at 380bhp and the plans will fall in place by widening the air restrictor from 33 mm to 36 mm. However, the look that you see in the sketch, might change significantly and we'll see some more innovations as the year goes by. Meanwhile, the current Polo R WRC is heading to the fourth round of the 2016 championship and will be geared up to take top honours and continue its winning ways.
