2018 Volkswagen CC Official Images Leaked

- The 2018 CC takes design and style cues from the VW Sports Coupe Concept
- The new car will be based on Volkswagen's MQB platform
- VW will unveil the next generation Volkswagen CC in 2017
Volkswagen is expected to unveil the next-generation CC sometime around 2017, either at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show or the same year in Frankfurt as a 2018 model. The new car will be based on Volkswagen MQB platform and thus comes with a more imposing stance and looks a lot more stylish and premium, compared to the outgoing version. In terms of design and styling, the car takes its cues from the Volkswagen Sports Coupe Concept GTE, which was showcased last year at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. And similar to the concept, the new CC will make the switch from a sedan to a hatchback to be more practical and at the same time retain its stylish silhouette.

The front of the car is largely identical to the concept with the sleek horizontal chrome grille extending into the lower grille housed in the bumper. The car also gets similar twin LED headlamps with angular LED daytime running lights. The front bumper also looks similar to the concept but there is a sleeker central air dam along with large air intakes on each side that is slightly similar to the new Passat.
The production version of the Volkswagen CC will also borrow the Passat's hardware, including the 215bhp hybrid powertrain used in the new VW Passat GTE. That being said, chances are the car could get a bigger hybrid powertrain, most likely the setup used in the aforementioned Sport Coupe Concept GTE. This setup uses a turbocharged six-cylinder unit working together with dual electric motors that make a combines power output of 380bhp.
