The Aprilia Tuono 660 made its global debut in January this year and has been quick to rise the ranks on the list of motorcycles we can't wait to ride. The half-faired middleweight naked is based on the Aprilia RS 660 supersport and shares most of its hardware and cycle parts with the latter. The design language is in line with the larger Aprilia Tuono 1100 while sporting the dual-headlamp setup at the front. When launched, the Aprilia Tuono 660 will take on the Triumph Street Triple RS, Honda CB650R, and the Kawasaki Z900. Here are five things you need to know about the 2021 Aprilia Tuono 660.

The Aprilia Tuono 660 is the naked version of the supersport Aprilia RS660
1. The 2021 Aprilia Tuono 660 differentiates itself with a shorter aerodynamic fairing and a belly pan. The stunning twin LED headlamp set-up from the RS 660 has been retained. The ergonomics have been revised too with the flat handlebar and a revised subframe, which makes for an upright riding position.

2. The 659 cc parallel-twin engine is derived from the forward-facing parallel-twin engine has been derived from the front two cylinders of the V4 engine of the Aprilia RSV4 1100. The motor belts out 95 bhp at 10,500 rpm and 67 Nm of peak torque at 8,500 rpm. The Italian streetfighter also gets a shorter final drive for better acceleration and responsiveness.

3. There are plenty of electronic aids to keep all that power in check. The Tuono 660 gets multi-level traction control, anti-wheelie control, cruise and engine brake control. You also get selectable engine maps - three for road and two for the track - each of which come with their own ABS intervention setting.

4. Suspension duties are handled by Kayaba adjustable forks, while the bike gets an aluminium swingarm and Brembo monoblocs for braking duties. The bike rides on Pirelli Diablo Rosso II tyres.

5. The Aprilia RS 660 and the Tuono 660 will go on sale in India sometime later this year. Both bikes will arrive as Completely Built Units (CBUs) and will compete at the upper end of the middleweight segment. Expect prices for the Tuono 660 to start around Rs. 11-12 lakh (ex-showroom).
