The Mercedes-AMG E 63 S is a direct rival to the BMW M5 Competition, while the AMG E 53 does not have direct competition
The Mercedes-AMG E 63 S 4MATIC+ is the range-topping offering in the E-Class family. The model draws power from the 4.0-litre V8 Bi-turbo engine that develops 612 bhp and a whopping 850 Nm of peak torque. The motor is paired with the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 9-speed transmission. The car can sprint from 0-100 kmph sprint in 3.4 seconds.
Meanwhile, the Mercedes-AMG E 53 4MATIC+ draws power from the familiar 3.0-litre in-line, six-cylinder engine with the EQ Boost tech. This is the same engine that powers the AMG GLE 53 Coupe we drove last year and is tuned for 435 bhp and 520 Nm of peak torque. The EQ Boost 48 volt tech meanwhile, adds another 21 bhp and 250 Nm for improved acceleration at lower rpms. The engine is paired with the same 9G transmission. Both models get the fully variable all-wheel-drive AMG Performance 4MATIC+ system.
