2022 Mercedes-AMG SL Interior Revealed

- Interior of the 2022 Mercedes-AMG SL revealed
- It will get a 2+2 seating configuration
- The dashboard of the performance car is inspired by the aviation industry
Mercedes-AMG will soon take the wraps off the all-new SL performance car. But before that, the company has released photographs of the interior and the cockpit of the car, which are delectable to say the least. Without a doubt, the interior of the new SL are a nod to the iconic 300 SL Roadster of the old days. The interior consists of a 2+2 layout, with the rear seats more appropriate for seating kids or keeping small pieces of luggage, although Mercedes claims that the rear seats can be comfortable for people with height of up to 1.50 metres.

The interior of the new AMG SL looks stunning! At least in photographs! Mercedes says it used a mix of analogue geometry and digital designs, which it calls 'hyperanalogue'. The cockpit is replete with latest features and is driver-focussed as well. One of the highlights is the aviation-inspired dashboard which is said to be designed as a wing with an upper and a lower section. The aviation theme is continued with the galvanised turbine nozzle styled AC vents. In the middle is the 11.9-inch LCD touchscreen installed in portrait style, whose angle can be adjusted electrically especially for times when driving with the top down. The other highlight is the 12.3-inch LCD instrument panel which is integrated into a high-tech visor to prevent reflections.

The door panels themselves are layered and get decorative topstitching along with housing high-quality Burmester loudspeakers. The new AMG SL can be specified with either sport seats or performance seats and customers can choose from single or dual-tone Nappa leather, with diamond stitching, Dinamic race microfibre or contrast topstitching. The front seats themselves get integrated headrests, which appear to be lighter and less voluminous. Of course, Mercedes says these seats offer perfect driving ergonomics.

The new AMG SL also gets the second generation of MBUX system, which is also seen on the Mercedes-Benz S-Class. The MBUX system has been updated to include AMG-specific content and views. This makes the new SL highly independent in terms of communication and information. Menu items such as "Performance" or "Track Pace" emphasise the sporty character. The interior has become even more digital and intelligent, as hardware and software have been extensively enhanced. Crisp images on the two LCD screens make it easy to control vehicle and comfort functions. Other features include heads-up display and 64-colour ambient lighting.
The global debut date of the new Mercedes-AMG SL is yet to be announced although, from the looks of it, we think the performance car will debut soon.
