2025 Audi Q5 Sportback SUV Unveiled

- Audi has unveiled the Q5 Sportback in the global market.
- Retains many styling cues from the standard Q5.
- Gets the same powertrain options as the standard Q5.
Audi has unveiled the new generation Q5 Sportback a few months after the debut of the third-gen Q5 SUV. The coupe derivative of the Q5 SUV, the Q5 Sportback sits on Audi’s new Premium Platform Combustion (PPC) platform, the company’s new-gen modular architecture for internal combustion vehicles. It retains many styling cues from the Q5 and is offered with the same set of powertrains.

The Q5 Sportback is essentially a derivative of the Q5 SUV with a coupe-like roofline
Visually, the only major differences between the Q5 Sportback and the standard Q5 are the coupe-like roofline, revised spoiler and smaller, more triangular rear quarter glass. All the other styling cues such as the trademark Audi grille, LED headlamps, and rear LED taillights replete with a lightbar have been retained. With the SQ5 variant, the vehicle gets a few different styling bits such as larger front air intakes, and a new rear diffuser. The interior layout is also the same as the standard Q5, featuring a large curved panoramic display that combines a 14.5-inch central touchscreen and an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster. Customers can also choose to add a passenger-side display to the vehicle.

The Q5 Sportback gets the same interior layout as the Q5 SUV
The standard Q5 Sportback can be optioned with either a 2.0-litre TFSI turbo-petrol (201 bhp, 340 Nm) or a 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine (201 bhp, 340 Nm) while the SQ5 Sportback is equipped with a 3.0-litre TFSI V6 unit (362 bhp, 550 Nm). A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox is standard. The Q5 gets Audi’s new MHEV Plus 48V mild-hybrid system, that offers 24 bhp as extra as standard across the range.
The new Q5 Sportback will go on sale in global markets in 2025 though it remains to be seen if Audi will bring the coupe-SUV to India alongside the third-gen Q5 SUV.
