Now, Hyundai says that the decline in volume is mainly due to the ongoing global shortage for semiconductor chips, which has affected vehicle production deeply. Considering most of Hyundai's newer models come with the company connected car technology, Hyundai is certainly facing a lot of heat due to the chip shortage. In addition to that, the company is getting stiff competition from the likes of Tata Motors, which saw a growth of 51 per cent in January 2022.

In January 2022 Hyundai exported 9,405 units from India, registering a 16 per cent YoY growth
In January 2022, Hyundai also retained its position of being India's largest passenger car exporter. Last month, the carmaker exported 9,405 units from India, registering a 16 per cent growth compared to the 8,100 units exported during the same month in 2021. However, compared to the 16,621 vehicles exported in December 2021, the carmaker saw a huge MoM decline of 43.4 per cent in January 2022.
