Car Sales January 2022: Record Sales And Production Mark Bumper January For Tata Motors

- Tata Motors recorded highest ever sales and production in January 2022.
- It's PV sales went up by 51 per cent selling 40,777 units last month.
- The company also recorded highest ever EV and SUV sales.
Tata Motors has been on a growth trajectory this financial year riding the back of its new launches. In December 2021, the Indian carmaker outperformed Hyundai Motor India to become the second bestselling carmaker in the country and now it has recorded its highest ever passenger vehicle (PV) sales in January 2022. Tata Motors sold 40,777 units which marks a growth of 51 per cent when compared to 26,978 units sold in the same month a year ago. The carmaker recorded a growth of 43 per cent for petrol and diesel powered vehicles selling 37,885 units as compared to 26,464 units sold in the same month last year. In the electric vehicle (EV) business, it witnessed a whopping growth of 463 per cent selling 2,892 units as compared to just 514 units sold a year ago.

The Tata Nexon EV that's been the bestselling EV in India since launch has catapult the Indian carmaker's growth in the EV segment and the company has sold over 13,500 units of the Nexon EV so far. SUVs have been the growth driver for the home-grown carmaker selling 28,108 units which again is its highest ever SUV sales. The Tata Punch and Nexon have been the best performing models in its range crossing 10,000 units monthly sales. The company even sold over 3000 CNG cars in January 2022 and witnessed 42 per cent penetration in the Tiago and Tigor's overall sales.

Tata Motors has witnessed 42 per cent penetration in CNG sales.
The company sold 35,300 units in December 2021 recording a growth of 50 per cent and 99,002 units during Q3 FY2022, the highest-ever quarterly sales numbers in a decade. Its sales have further gone up as month-on-month (MoM) sales growth in January 2022 stood at 15.15 per cent. In fact, the sales growth has led to an increase in its production capacity utilisation as well as its Pune manufacturing unit recorded highest ever production since March 2007 and the Ranjangaon plant has recorded highest monthly production ever.

Tata's CV sales went up by 7 per cent.
Tata Motors has also recorded a growth of 7 per cent in its commercial vehicle (CV) business selling 35,268 units as compared to 32,816 units sold in the same month a year ago. It witnessed a growth of 3 per cent in its domestic sales selling 31,708 units as compared to 30,671 units sold a year ago. Its CV exports went up by 66 per cent at 3,560 units as compared to 2,145 units sold a year ago.
