BMW Centenary Celebrations Commence in Munich

BMW completed 100 years on Monday and to mark the occasion the company is holding a BMW Festival in Munich under the motto 'The Next 100 Years'.

    BMW completed 100 years on Monday and to mark the occasion the company is holding a BMW Festival in Munich, under the motto 'The Next 100 Years'. The German carmaker has seen an illustrious past and is now ready to continue building on its already stellar reputation over the next century.

    The company iterates that its image has been defined by focusing on the future and by becoming pioneers in the industry. In its press release, the company quotes Harald Kruger, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG, at the Centenary Event in Munich on Monday to have said, "At the BMW Group, we are always on a quest for the best solution. It's part of our DNA. It's also in the spirit of our collaborations, a recurring theme that permeates our corporate and leadership culture."

    The company defines its 3 most important qualities to be the capacity to learn and adapt, technological innovation, and a sense of responsibility toward society. Kruger went on to state, "We have demonstrated on many occasions throughout our history that we are capable of learning fast and taking bold steps."

    BMW Vision Next 100

    The celebration event showcased the future of the company in the form of the BMW Vision Next 100 unveiling. The stunning concept features a futuristic shell adorned with narrow signature 'kidney grills' up front, reminiscent of some of the older classics, along with a pair of slender vertical headlamps on either side. The car has been designed based on an amalgamation of sportiness derived from coupes and elegance from sedans. The driver-centric car is highly customisable and is tailored to adapt to the changing requirements of the driver.

    The BMW Next 100 event was attended by the CEO of Audi AG, Rupert Stadler as well as some Board Members from the Daimler group. Earlier, Mercedes-Benz had congratulated fierce rival BMW of its achievement and even offered BMW employees to come visit its Museum in Stuttgart with no admissions charged. German Chancellor Angela Merkel sent a video message which was broadcast at the BMW Next 100 event.

    BMW Vision Next 100

    BMW imagines its future to be in the field of developing completely effortless, comprehensively available and tailor-made premium mobility solutions that will pander to the individual needs of every customer. In its view, the future will see a rise in completely self-driven vehicles and that with time, connectivity will become even more commonplace and that future technologies will be capable of learning to learn from people. On this topic, Kruger said," Future mobility will connect every area of people's lives. And that's where we see new opportunities for premium mobility."

    BMW Vision Next 100

    Besides unveiling the BMW Vision Next 100, a live broadcast of the event was also shown at the Allianz Arena Football Stadium in Munich to an audience of 30,000 employees. Between 9-11 September, fans from all around the world will be able to attend the festival which spreads over Munich Olympic Park including the Olympic Stadium and Hall, the BMW Museum, BMW Welt, and the entire area around the BMW HQ.

    The Vision Next 100 will also go on a world tour called 'Iconic Impulses' which will stop in China, the UK and America. In London, the company will be showcasing Vision Vehicles of MINI and Rolls-Royce whereas at its last stop in Los Angeles, the BMW Motorrad Vision Vehicle will complete the quartet of brands. The company will also publish 13 volumes of a special publication that will outline the company's history and give insight into its future.
