Charles Leclerc Crashes Niki Lauda's 1974 Ferrari 312 In Monaco Historic GP

- Leclercs ride apparently had a brake failure which caused the issue
- He rammed the car into the barriers which destroyed the rear wing
- The damage will be costly considering the car is almost 50 years old
Ferrari came Charles Leclerc continued his horror show at his home track - Monaco - at the Monaco Historic GP where he crashed the Niki Lauda's iconic Ferrari 312 which was first raced in 1974. Leclerc had been on a demonstration run in the classic Ferrari 312B3 which was one of the cars the 3-time world champion had been synonymous with.
Leclerc had been coming to the end of his demo run when the rear end of the car stepped away upon entry to the iconic La Rascasse corner and the car spun into the barriers. By modern F1 standards, the damage wasn't catastrophic, but considering it is an almost 50-year-old piece of machinery, the cost of the damage will be very high. The rear wing of the car was destroyed which would be hard to replace.
But this is not the first time this car has crashed. Former Ferrari driver Jean Alesi crashed the car last year at the very same race. Leclerc took to social media to express his disappointment.

The Monegasque rammed the 48 year old car in the barriers at Monaco
"When you thought you already had all the bad luck of the world in Monaco and you lose the brakes into Rascasse with one of the most iconic historical Ferrari Formula 1 cars," the Monegasque tweeted.
The Ferrari ace had crashed his 2021 Ferrari after putting it on pole position in last year's Monaco GP and earlier in 2019 had also crashed his car during qualifying. In 2021, the crash during qualifying directly resulted in his retirement as his car would develop a gearbox failure in the warm-up lap of the race.
In 2018, also never finished his home race for Sauber while in 2020 due to the pandemic the race didn't happen in the Principality. The 4-time race winner is the current leader of the 2022 F1 world championship.
