Datsun redi-GO Receives Over 10,000 Bookings in India

- Datsun redi-GO was launched in India on 7 June
- Large share of the bookings came from metropolitan areas & Tier II cities
- redi-GO's rivals include Maruti Alto 800, Renault Kwid, & Hyundai EON
Datsun redi-GO marked the Japanese automaker's entry into the highly-competitive entry-level hatchback segment in India. Though it faces sturdy competition from cars like the Maruti Suzuki Alto 800, Renault Kwid, and Hyundai EON, the redi-GO has managed to perform quite well since its launch in June. In fact, Datsun announced the hatchback has already received over 10,000 bookings. Interestingly, a considerable share of these numbers came from metropolitan areas and Tier 2 cities.
Datsun RediGo, priced between Rs. 2.39 lakh - Rs. 3.34 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), measures 3,429mm in length, 1,560mm in width, 1,541mm in height, and sports a wheelbase of 2,348mm. The hatchback also gets a segment-leading ground clearance of 185mm. It gets a tallboy stance, a short bonnet, hexagonal grille, a high-mounted rear windscreen, boomerang-shaped tail-lamps that round-off its urban cross 'Yukan' design.

Aavailable in a total of five variants, namely, D, A, T, T(O), and S, the Redi GO comes powered by a 799cc three-cylinder petrol engine. Mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox, it puts out 53bhp along with 72Nm of maximum torque. Its fuel-efficiency is rated at 25.17Km/l.
Arun Malhotra, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd. said, "Datsun redi-GO is bringing a lot of new energy and freshness to the entry car segment. Its eye-catching design and best-in-class features are getting noticed as more and more customers choose to go with redi-GO. We have started deliveries of redi-GOs this month to customers across the country and are delighted by the way Datsun redi-GO is being embraced by the younger generation in the country."
