Ducati Scrambler DesertX To Make Its Global Debut In December 2021

- Ducati Scrambler DesertX global unveil in December 2021
- It will be positioned as an off-road specced adventure motorcycle
- It is likely to get the same engine as Ducati Scrambler 1100
Ducati has confirmed that it will reveal the production version of the Scrambler DesertX off-road motorcycle in December 2021. It was at EICMA 2019 that Ducati revealed the Scrambler DesertX as a concept motorcycle, but had confirmed then that the motorcycle will make it into production in a year or so. Of course, the delay can be discounted due to the fact that the COVID-19 pandemic threw the proverbial spanner in the works and the best-laid plans went awry! But nonetheless, come December 2021 and Ducati will have a capable off-roader in its ranks, or so Ducati says.

The DesertX motorcycle is said to be inspired by Ducati's iconic motorcycles that competed in Rally Raids in the 1990s, like the Paris-Dakar. Ducati says that the retro-style scrambler is being developed to cover long distances, and will be able to take on all kinds of tough terrain. It is of course, being billed as a true-blue off-roader.

When it comes to design, the concept motorcycle come across as having solid off-road credentials with its tall stance, with a large windscreen and twin round LED headlights and muscular tank with clean, sharp lines. One of the big highlights on the concept bike was the two fuel tanks, which have a total capacity of 30 litres.

The production model may not have two fuel tanks. In terms of equipment, the motorcycle is likely to have 21-inch front wheel and an 18-inch rear wheel, both spoked, off-road biased Pirelli Scorpion Rally tyres and long travel suspension with some form of adjustability. The concept bike had a ground clearance of 275 mm and we expect the Scrambler DesertX to have a similar sort of ground clearance.

When it was unveiled in 2019, Ducati Scrambler DesertX concept was said to be powered by a 1,079 cc, L-Twin engine that was tuned to churn out about 84 bhp and was paired to a 6-speed gearbox. We expect the 937 cc L-Twin engine to power the production model, which is also seen on the Ducati SuperSport, HyperMotard and even the new Monster, which was recently launched in India.
