EICMA 2016: Honda Showcases The X-ADV

- The Honda X-ADV gets a 745cc twin-cyl engine producing 54bhp
- It gets ABS and dual-clutch transmission as standard equipment
- Honda is unlikely to bring the X-ADV to India
Have you ever seen or heard of a scooter that can double up as an adventure touring two-wheeler as well? No? Then you need to check out the Honda X-ADV that the Japanese manufacturer recently showed off at the ongoing 2016 EICMA Motorcycle Show. The X-ADV has been designed at Honda's R&D centre in Rome, Italy.
In the world of scooters, the Honda X-ADV is a crossover. It gets a 745cc, twin-cylinder engine which churns out maximum power of 54bhp@6,250rpm and peak torque of 68Nm@4,750rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed dual clutch transmission. The DCT has two modes, 'D' for drive and 'S' for Sport, which shifts gears up at a higher RPM. There is a manual mode as well. The claimed fuel efficiency for the Honda X-ADV is a decent 33.6 Km/l.
(Honda X-ADV at EICMA 2016)The other interesting bits that it gets are the upside down long travel suspension up front and 4-piston radial mount brakes, which make up the cycle parts. For convenience, the X-ADV gets 5-level adjustable screen, a multi-function LCD display, 21-litre underseat stowage with an LED and a 12V power socket along with hand guards as well. ABS and the dual-clutch transmission come as standard kit.
The X-ADV gets a smart key, which is basically a key fob like that of a car with remote locking. It doesn't need to go into the ignition slot, the fuel cap or in the access to the underseat stowage. It can simply be kept in the rider's pocket.
Upon it launch, the Honda X-ADV will be available for purchase in Europe and North America. While we would love to see it here, but it is very, very unlikely that Honda will bring it to India.
