Key Highlights
- The official name of the LaFerrari Spider is yet to be revealed
- The LaFerrari Spider gets tweaks to the tub chassis for better rigidity
- The drag coefficient on the Spider will be same as the coupe version
Ending months of speculations, renderings and spy shots, Ferrari has finally pulled wraps off the topless LaFerrari ahead of its public debut at the Paris Motor Show this October. Details on the ultra-exclusive, limited in production LaFerrari Spider (going by its naming convention) are yet to be revealed including the official nameplate, while the Italian car maker has said that extensive modifications have been made to the carbon fibre tub chassis on the hypercar, in order to maintain the same torsional rigidity and beam stiffness as its closed roof sibling.
What we do know is that power on the Ferrari LaFerrari Spider will continue come from the same 6.2-litre naturally aspirated V12 motor that comes paired to an electric powertrain, which cumulatively produces a whopping 950hp of adrenaline rushing power and 899Nm of soul wrenching torque. Performance figures will remain close to the coupe, if not the same, courtesy of the tweaked aerodynamics in a bid to maintain the closed car's drag coefficient with the roof off.
The Ferrari LaFerrari is capable of hitting the 0-100 km/h sprint in 2.9 seconds, while 0-300 km/h takes just 15 seconds with a top whack of 350 km/h. The topless LaFerari will be able to do similar numbers, the difference then will be the absence of a roof that connects you directly with that beast of an engine, which is pure symphony for one's acoustic needs. Aesthetically, the topless flagship Ferrari will only get a detachable panel in the name of a roof that is likely to get stowed behind the seats.
If the primary details were brilliant enough to entice you to get one; sorry to disappoint but each of the topless LaFerrari cars to be produced have already been sold to a select few customers in a special preview. It now needs to be seen as to what the Maranello based car maker will be calling its flagship hypercar with the options ranging between Spider or Aperta.

Previous reports have indicated that the topless LaFerrari will be restricted to just 70 units
