Ferrari's New Crossover Named Purosangue; To Be Launched In 2022

We've been awaiting a word from Ferrari about its new SUV. Well, there's not just a word but rather a name and now we know what it will be called. It's more of a crossover than an SUV and it'll be called Purosangue which means 'thoroughbred' in Italian. This will be Ferrari's first ever crossover and will arrive by the end of 2022. The Purosangue is not an SUV and Ferrari's new CEO Louis Carey Camilleri made it quite clear in its presentation. "That word, I do not want to hear it in the same phrase as Ferrari," he said.
So, let's call it a crossover then. The car will be Ferrari's first-ever vehicle with a five door body and will be shaped more like a coupe. Now, in the picture we can see the shape of the car but well, this is not it. If you thought that the car will be just as big as the Lamborghini Urus, well, that's not going to be the case either, however, it will compete with the Lambo in terms of performance and pricing.

The Ferrari Purosangue will be based on the front mid-engined architecture
The Purosangue will be based on Ferrari's new Front Mid-Engine Architecture which will see the engine mounted up front but behind the wheels while the dual-clutch transmission will be positioned at the rear. This setup will help in better weight distribution. The platform will support all-wheel drive, and Ferrari is moving towards powering its cars with electric power too and so hybrids are definitely on the cards.
It will be a high riding 5-door crossover and Ferrari moving towards making such cars, speaks volumes about the company wanting to woo more customers and widening its base. Riding the SUV-trend that's a global phenomenon, Ferrari will look to boost its profit with the Purosangue and we're sure it'll do really well, especially in countries like China.
