Ford Figo And Aspire Now Get ABS With EBD On Trend Trim

- ABS and dual airbags will reportedly be mandatory on all cars in India
- Ford Figo is offered across five trims, while Ford Aspire gets four
- ABS was previously being offered only on the Titanium and Titanium+ trims
The Ford Figo and Ford Aspire carlines have quietly received the addition of ABS with EBD on the 'Trend' trim, thus adding Ford India's name to the growing list of carmakers to offer an increasing number of safety provisions as standard equipment on their respective model line-ups. The Ford Figo and Aspire carlines are offered across a total of five and four trims, respectively, with the anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD) feature being previously offered only on the top-end Titanium and Titanium+ trims.

Airbags are likely to soon be made mandatory in all cars in India
With car safety quickly climbing the priority list in India and across the world, the government of India is said to be planning to make airbags and ABS a mandatory provision on all trims of all cars. In view of the future safety norms, several manufacturers have initiated introduction of a myriad of safety features to their respective model line-ups. Maruti Suzuki also recently made ISOFIX mounts a standard provision across the Ciaz carline.

Several carmakers are now offering ABS on lower trims on their models
Volkswagen recently introduced ABS and dual front airbags as standard fitment across the entire Polo and Vento range, thus making the two safety features standard for all its models in India. As far as the American carmaker goes, while it has introduced ABS with EBD on the Trend trim of Ford Figo and Aspire, it already offers driver airbags as standard across its entire model range in India, that comprises Ford Figo, Asipre, EcoSport, Endeavour, and Mustang.
