Hero Starts FY 2016-17 With a Bang: Sells 6 Lakh Plus Units

- Hero sells 6 lakh plus units in April 2016
- 4 Hero models are amongst the 10 highest selling two-wheelers in India
- Hero Splendor is still the highest selling two-wheeler in India
Hero has been the world's largest two-wheeler manufacturer for the longest time. It started the new financial year by selling exactly 6, 12,739 units as compared to 5, 33,305 units sold in April last year. This translates into a growth of 15 per cent. Also, Hero recorded a growth of 13.6 per cent and 14 per cent in February and March 2016 respectively. April 2016 was the third consecutive month when Hero had a double digit growth in its sales figures.
The Indian manufacturer has been leading the 100cc segment with its commuters plus it is one of the biggest players in the 125cc segment as well with the Glamour doing very well. The sales of Glamour in particular grew by 23 per cent over the last year and it also is one of the 10 best-selling two-wheelers in India. The Splendor continues to rule the roost at the top of this list while the HF Deluxe and the Passion Pro also make an appearance. In total, Hero has 4 models in the list of top 10 highest selling two-wheelers in India in FY 2015-16.
The Hero Duet and the Hero Maestro Edge are also doing well and contributing to Hero's toehold in the two-wheeler segment in the country. In February 2016, Hero overtook TVS as the country's second largest scooter maker, only behind Honda. Also, it has submitted plans to commence production at its proposed plant in Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh. Looks like Hero is in no mood to relinquish its throne at the very top of the two-wheeler industry in the country.
