Honda Cliq Launched in Maharashtra At Rs. 43,076

- Maharashtra is the biggest two-wheeler market in India
- Honda has a market share of 63 per cent for scooters sold in Maharashtra
- The Cliq will be sold in four colours and also have optional accessories
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has launched the Cliq in Maharashtra at a price of Rs. 43,076 (ex-showroom, Pune). The Honda Cliq is the latest scooter from the company and is aimed at the rural two-wheeler market, where 100 cc - 110cc bikes have the biggest share of the pie. The new Cliq is a 110 cc scooter which is based on the Honda Activa. Unlike the Navi which had quirk as its USP, Honda says that the Cliq is more of a practical mobility solution for male and female riders in the rural areas of the country. It gets block pattern tyres which offer extra grip on patchy rural roads. The seat height has been kept at 743 mm which will be a comfortable height for most Indian riders. Also, the scooter gets a mobile charging socket in the underseat stowage area as well. HMSI has also provided a bigger footboard, long seat and more underseat stowage area as well in order to make the scooter better equipped to tackle extra load.
(The Honda Cliq has a small 3.5-litre fuel tank)Yadvinder Singh Guleria, Senior Vice President - Sales and Marketing, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. said, "In Maharashtra, over 40% contribution to two-wheeler sales comes from scooters. As an early adopter of scooterisation, there is an increased demand & varied customer needs emerging in the state and scooter segment is now ripe for sub segmentation. Honda continues to lead the scooterisation of the nation and our new launch CLIQ is Honda's next step to take scooterisation deeper into the hinterlands. CLIQ is developed for the up-country customers with a progressive mindset, and is a true disruptor in 100-110cc segment. CLIQ challenges the traditional preferences with its perfect blend of Practicality, Versatility and Value for money. Honda with its unparalleled economies of scale in scooters has broken the price gap between automatic transmission and mass motorcycles. We are confident that CLIQ will be the next revolution in daily commute."
(The Cliq also gets block pattern tyres and combi-brake system)Maharashtra is the biggest two-wheeler market in India and HMSI believes that launching the Cliq here will be a big boost to the company in terms of sales. The Cliq gets the company's tried and tested 110 cc BS IV HET (Honda Eco Technology) engine that makes 7.9 bhp of max power and 8.94 Nm of peak torque paired with a CVT gearbox. With a weight of just 102 kg, the Honda Cliq is easy to manage as well on bad roads and in traffic. The Cliq gets Honda's patented Combi braking system too. The company is also offering a host of accessories for the Cliq. Honda will offer the Cliq in four colour variants.
