Honda Files Patent For 2019 CB125F

- The Honda CB125F is the company's entry-level model in Europe
- It gets comprehensive styling updates
- It is highly unlikely that it will be launched in India
Honda is working on the 2019 model of the CB125F. For the uninitiated, the CB125F is Honda's entry-level motorcycle in Europe and yes, it is a 125 cc bike. The patent image for the new CB125F was leaked recently and we believe that the bike could be launched this year in European markets as a 2019 model. Coming to the changes, the new CB125F uses the same frame but the styling has been given a comprehensive update. To begin with, the rear-view mirrors and the fuel tank assembly are new and get an edgy design. The rear gets a new split design for the grab-rail and the exhaust is new as well. The headlamp design and the fairing too is new.
The bike will continue to get a 124cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine that makes 10.4 bhp and 10.2 Nm of peak torque. The bike gets a five-speed gearbox and along with a 240 mm disc at the front and a 130 mm at the rear. The bike gets 18-inch alloys at both ends with regular telescopic suspension upfront and dual shock absorbers at the rear.
While this is what Honda has planned for Europe, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India has announced that it will be investing Rs. 800 crore this fiscal towards its India operations. Also, HSMI says that it will be offering a total of 18 updates to its product portfolio in India this year. Plus, HMSI said that it will be launching a brand new model in India this year as well. Could it be the CB125F? We highly doubt it because India already has the CB Shine and the CB Shine SP. The specifications are more or less similar to the CB125F and the also, the CB Shine is the largest selling 125 cc bike in India at present.
