Hyundai Creta Sets New Record With Over 13,000 Units Sold In July

- The Creta achieved 50% growth in year-on-year sales
- Domestic sales stood at 7981 units, while exports stood at 5448 units
- Completing a year of sales, over 80,000 unit of the Creta have been sold
Hyundai India's popular compact SUV - the Creta has had a phenomenal sales record ever since it went on sale in the country last year and the model has managed to set yet another record, with over 13,000 units sold in a month. The South Korean car maker managed to cumulatively push 13,429 units of the Creta in July this year, achieving over 50 per cent year-on-year growth when compared to the 6,783 units sold in July 2015. While a major part of these sales figures come from the domestic market, exports figures have also seen a substantial boost in July this year.
Domestic sales of the Hyundai Creta stood at 7,981 units in July 2016; whereas the exports were an impressive 5,448 units. While the difference in both sales figures may be just under 3,000 units, the exports are certainly impressive when compared to the figures of the export models in the segment. Hyundai currently exports the Creta from its Chennai facility to several markets overseas including the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Latin America. Comparatively, Maruti Suzuki's newly launched sub-compact SUV the Vitara Brezza also did its best-ever sales in July 2016 with 10,000 units.
Launched in June 2015, the Hyundai Creta completed over a year in sales and continues to pose as a strong seller. The compact SUV was quick to capture the market's fancy in just a few months and became a crowd favourite garnering huge bookings. In fact, Hyundai Creta crossed the one lakh booking mark within 8 months from its launch and more recently the car has almost reached the 80,000 unit sales mark in the Indian market. The Creta currently accounts for 50 per cent of the compact SUV segment's sales. While the SUV is raking in terms of the numbers, its sales have invariably led to a longer waiting period with certain variants commanding a delivery date after six months.

Hyundai Creta
Coming to the SUV itself, some of the key reasons for the Hyundai Creta's success has been thanks to its bold SUV stance, stylish exterior profile and a host of features. Built on the Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language the Creta comes with some of the best-in-class features like projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights, smart infotainment system, adjustable seats, a premium-looking cabin, six-airbags and hill-start assist controls among others.
Under the hood, the Hyundai Creta is offered with 3 engine options - 1.6-litre petrol, 1.6-litre diesel and 1.4-diesel. While the petrol motor produces a maximum of 128bhp, the diesel engines are capable of churning out 121bhp and 89bhp respectively. On the other hand, transmission duties are handled by a 6-speed manual gearbox for all three engines, while you also get an optional 6-speed automatic unit with the 1.6-litre petrol and diesel mills.
