Hyundai Launches Mocean EV Subscription Service In UK

- Mocean will allow users to get cars at $471 per month
- Minimum period is 24 months and cars can be changed in 6 months as well
- This service includes auto insurance and roadside support
Hyundai has launched a new all-in-one subscription service in the UK specifically dedicated to electric vehicles, hybrid vehicles and hydrogen-powered vehicles. The service is called Mocean and it allows approved customers in the UK to have an EV delivered to them for a monthly fee that includes things like insurance, maintenance, road tax and repairs. This is something Hyundai has been experimenting with within other countries as well. Earlier iterations of this model had been structured as a lease however as a part of the monthly subscription payment you even get auto insurance, maintenance and roadside assistance which is game-changing. Hyundai is of course not the first one to dabble with something like this - Book By Cadillac is something GM has tried and Care by Volvo and Porsche Passport are all examples of the same idea.

Hyundai Ioniq 5 is the first EV using its new platform for EVs that was co-designed with Canoo
Hyundai has also launched the Ioniq Unlimited+ subscription program which will launch in the US when the Ioniq 5 EV launches in the market. In the UK, Mocean will cost $471 per month for a 24-month subscription.
“Subscriptions are available for as little as three months and for as long as 24 months, with a focus on delivering a sign-up and drive a process that takes just a few clicks. During a fully digital process, customers simply choose the car they want and how long they want it for, enter their details and – once approved – a car will be delivered to them within a matter of days. Alternatively, users can choose to pick their car up from a local Hyundai retailer,” said Hyundai in a statement.
The subscribers also get the option to change their EV every six months and cancellation is allowed after three months, though it requires a notice of one month. The service will first launch in the greater London area followed by other major UK cities through 2021.
