Hyundai Motor India Sets Eyes on Producing 6 Millionth Car in 2015

The company's market share has grown to 17.2 percent in the current calendar year from 16.2 percent last year and it has brave ambitions of growing a minimum of 1 percent per year. India is an important market for Hyundai and considering that 14% of global production volume comes from this country, the Korean automotive giant is take things further.

The car maker had crossed the 5 million units landmark in October 2013 and now just 2 years later, is looking to roll out its 6 millionth car in 2015. The new i20 has raked in most of the sales and even the i20 Active did not disappoint, considering how the crossover segment has done in India. Currently, it's plant in Chennai boasts of producing 631000 cars per annnum and if need be, the company can ramp up production to 7 lakh cars annually.

What's next you ask? Well, it's the Creta, Hyundai's compact SUV, which will be launched on July 21. The car has the makings of a winner but its fate will be decided only by how it manages to lure in the customers.

But Hyundai is betting big on this car as it will help them achieve the 6 million mark this year and that is quite a landmark figure. Of course, the Creta will also be exported to the 100 markets that Hyundai targets and this will substantially add to the exports figures as well.
