In a bold move, Hyundai introduced its luxury sub-brand 'Genesis' last year with the G90 (EQ900 in South Korea) being the first model to be produced under the new moniker. The automaker's answer to the offerings from German giants, the news certainly was a pleasant surprise for the Hyundai fans globally and the ones in India are in for a special treat as the Korean carmaker will showcase its flagship luxury brand at the upcoming 2016 auto expo.

Going great with most of its offerings, Hyundai India has planned a host of things at the expo and the Genesis will surely attract a lot of eyes with its bold lines inspired from the Vision G coupe concept and the Athletic Elegance design language. Inside the cabin, the interiors are top notch and have the best to offer including leather-upholstered seats, 12.3-inch infotainment system, 9.2-inch tablets for the rear seats, three-zone climate control as well as double glass insulation for lower NVH levels.
The rear seats are divided by a massive centre console with access to all controls and are electrically operated lending an opulent feel to the occupant. Talking about the powertrain, the Genesis G90 gets a 3.8-litre V6 petrol motor churning out 231PS and 396Nm of torque, whereas the top-trim uses a 5.0-litre V8 engine that produces 311PS and develops 519Nm of torque. All engines come paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission sending power to the rear wheels; while AWD is also available with Hyundai's H-TRAC system.

Interestingly, the Genesis G90 does not carry a single Hyundai badge in a bid to differentiate the luxury brand more effectively. While the specifications and feature list sound charming, you will have to wait a little longer to write that cheque. Hyundai has no plans of introducing its luxury brand in the country anytime soon. Instead, the automaker will be introducing other products that include the Tucson premium SUV, new MPV for India and the next generation Elantra, all of which will be showcased at the expo and are destined for launch in the coming months. In fact, the automaker will have a total of 17 models on display across 12 zones.
