Maruti Ciaz Bookings Cross 3,000 in 3 days

It has just been three days, since Maruti Suzuki opened bookings for the upcoming Ciaz, and the car is turning out to be a game-changer for the company in the mid-sized sedan segment. Proving its critics and analysts wrong, who claimed that the new sedan from Maruti won't do any good, the car has reportedly received over 3,000 orders and over 10, 000 enquiries in such a short span of time. And if it continues to do well, the car might set a new pre-launch booking record in the mid-sized sedan segment.
Expected to be launched in the first week of October, the Ciaz will be made available in both petrol and diesel engine options. Powering the petrol variant will be a 1.4L K-Series engine, which also does duty to the Ertiga. It develops a maximum power of 91bhp and 130Nm of torque. The Maruti Ciaz diesel will be powered by a 1.3L Multijet engine that churns out a maximum power of 89bhp with 200Nm of torque.

Both the powertrains will be mated to a five-speed manual transmission, while a four-speed automatic transmission will also be offered with the petrol model. Claimed to be the most fuel efficient sedan, the Ciaz petrol will return a fuel economy of 20.73kmpl and the diesel variant vouch to give a mileage of 26.21kmpl. Coming in four trim levels, L, V, Z, Z+, the Ciaz will take on the likes of Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Volkswagen Vento. The Maruti Ciaz is likely to be priced between Rs. 7.5 lakh - Rs. 10.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
