Mercedes-Benz has announced a voluntary recall of several models in India, including the S-Class (including Maybach), SL 55 AMG, GLC, and EQS sedans, due to a potential fire risk. The issue stems from concerns that the fuse boxes in these vehicles may not have been properly reworked. If left unaddressed, this defect could result in system failures that affect the vehicle’s propulsion, restraint functions, and instrument cluster, potentially leading to accidents or injuries. In rare cases, the fault could also cause thermal incidents within the vehicle.

The latest notice follows the March 2025 recall, where Mercedes recalled seven AMG S 63 E Performance units and three AMG GT 63S 4MATIC+ E Performance units due to a potential processor overload, resulting in unexpected propulsion loss. Additional recalls this year were linked to similar fire risks, as well as issues like ECU software glitches and missing warning labels for the automatic front passenger airbag shutoff system.
