New-Gen Maruti Suzuki Baleno Teaser Reveals New LED Taillights; Launch This Month

Maruti Suzuki India is all set to launch the new-generation Baleno premium hatchback in India this month. Expected to be launched on February 23, bookings for the 2022 Maruti Suzuki Baleno have already commenced for a token of Rs. 11,000. While previously released teaser images did give us a glimpse of some of the updates the new Baleno will get, the carmaker has now released a new teaser video, and this time around, we get to see the car's redesigned LED taillamps. Compared to the ones on the existing model, these new ones looks much sharper and gets a new LED light signature pattern.

The teaser video also reveals some of the elements we have already seen in the earlier teaser or spy photos. This includes the new front section, which gets sharper LED headlamps with a new signature pattern for the LED daytime running lights, and integrated turn indicators. The Maruti Suzuki Baleno will also get new bumpers and new alloy wheels among other exterior updates.

The new-gen Maruti Suzuki Baleno gets a new front section, with sharper LED headlamps, and a new signature pattern for the LED DRLs
The new 2022 Baleno is also expected to come with a heavily updated cabin as well, possibly featuring a larger touchscreen infotainment system, updated instrument console, and overall, more upmarket fit and finish. Expect creature comforts like automatic headlamps, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, auto climate control, and more to also be part of the features list. However, what we know for sure is that the cabin will come with a segment-first Heads-Up Display (HUD) unit.

Under the hood, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno right now comes with a 1.2-litre VVT motor, and a more powerful 1.2-litre Dualjet, Dual VVT engine, and they are expected to remain unchanged. The former gets the option of both a 5-speed manual and an automatic CVT unit, while the more powerful engine, which also gets the mild-hybrid system comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. However, rumour has it that the new Baleno could get a 5-speed AGS (Auto Gear Shift) unit that will replace the CVT gearbox.
