- Launch of the new Maruti Suzuki Baleno is scheduled for this month.
- The pre-bookings for the new Baleno are opened at Rs. 11,000.
- The Baleno was first launched in 2015.
Maruti Suzuki India will introduce the new-generation Maruti Suzuki Baleno in India on February 23, 2022. Although the company did not confirm the development, a few dealer sources we spoke to verified that the premium hatchback will certainly be launched in India in two weeks' time. Earlier today, Maruti Suzuki India opened the pre-bookings for the 2022 Maruti Suzuki Baleno at an initial token amount of Rs. 11,000. The new Baleno is said to get an entire generation change, and in its second generation, will receive a major cosmetic upgrade, along with a refreshed features list and updated cabin. The Maruti Suzuki Baleno, in its hatchback style, was launched back in 2015.

In terms of design changes, the new Maruti Suzuki Baleno will feature numerous updates to the exterior such as a sharper-looking front fascia that now features a large grille, new L-shaped wraparound projector headlamps with LED DRLs, and a redesigned front bumper. All these, alter the way the Baleno looks in profile and could be perceived larger than the outgoing model. At the back, the second-generation Maruti Suzuki Baleno will feature new taillamps, a new tailgate design, and a revised rear bumper. We also hope Maruti would introduce a new design for the 15-inch alloy wheels, as spotted on a test mule a while back.

A HUD is the newest addition to the cabin of the 2022 Maruti Suzuki Baleno.

Inside, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno will feature a new theme for the cabin with a redesigned dashboard featuring a touchscreen infotainment system fully compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. We won't be surprised if Maruti surprises us with wireless functionality for both telemetries. The highlight here, though, is the addition of a new first-in-class Heads-Up Display (HUD) that projects necessary navigation and gauge information onto the windshield just below the driver's sightline, helping to keep their eyes on the road. Taking a note out of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari's recent announcement on the mandatory provision of six airbags, expect Maruti Suzuki to load up the Baleno with extra airbags, taking the tally from two to six.

The 2022 Maruti Suzuki Baleno will get a new high-mounted LED stop lamp and redesigned rear bumper, a pair of new LED taillights, with a new LED signature pattern.

Power in the new Maruti Suzuki Baleno will continue to come from the same 1.2-litre VVT motor, and a more powerful 1.2-litre Dualjet, Dual VVT engine, that are tuned to make 82bhp & 89bhp respectively, while the torque output remains constant at 113Nm in both versions. The former will be equipped with the same 5-speed manual box, while the AMT unit from the Maruti Suzuki Swift could find a place here. The latter will be paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard, coupled to a mild-hybrid system for much-improved fuel efficiency.
