New Yamaha R15 & Aerox 155: What To Expect

- Yamaha plans to launch 3 new offerings on September 21, 2021
- The Yamaha Aerox 155 maxi-scooter could be one of the launches
- The updated Yamaha R15 & R15M are also likely to arrive with upgrades
Yamaha Motor India has teased a number of new offerings that hints towards an updated R15 and also a new maxi-scooter joining the line-up. While the company hasn't shared too many details, the manufacturer is expected to bring the updated R15 and the R15M bikes on September 21, 2021, while the big announcement is likely to be the Yamaha Aerox 155 maxi-scooter or a model on the same lines. Rumours have been strong for months now that the company is bringing the Aerox 155 after leaked documents suggested the same. The new model uses the same engine as the R15 and the MT-15 sold in India.

The Yamaha Aerox 155 will be a proper maxi-scooter to be sold in India
The Yamaha Aerox is powered by the Yamaha R15 V3-sourced 155 cc, VVA-equipped engine. It is tuned for a slightly lower output at about 14 bhp. The maxi-scooter looks sporty with a sharp design language, and also gets features like LED lights, a full digital LCD instrument console with smartphone connectivity, hazard lights, and a front disc brake. The scooter rides on 14-inch alloy wheels and has a kerb weight of 122 kg. This will be India's first proper maxi-scooter and that's the company taking quite the plunge in the market.
Meanwhile, the new Yamaha R15 likely to be called 'V4.0' will see the popular motorcycle get cosmetic upgrades. It will come with a new front look borrowed from the YZF-R7 sporting a single projector headlamp replacing the twin headlamp set-up. It will also get twin sleek LED DRLs, reworked fairing and tail section.

Leaked documents have suggested that the model will make slightly less power than the current version at 18.1 bhp, while torque output will remain the same. Will have to wait and see what Yamaha has to officially say about the performance changes. Meanwhile, a new R15M version is expected to join the line-up that will is likely to bring USD front forks to the motorcycle along with other upgrades. It could be a more track-focused offering right from the factory.
We will have more details on the updated Yamaha range in a bit. Make sure to keep watching this space for all the details.
