Nitin Gadkari Eyes Making Green Hydrogen Available at $1 Per Kilo - Report

Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari continues to push the case for alternatives fuel in India. Speaking at the National Conference for Civil Engineers and Professionals from Allied Industries, Gadkari continued to push the case for green fuels stating that his dream was to make green hydrogen available for as little as $1 per kg in India.

As per a report, Gadkari said that hydrogen could be produced from petroleum, biomass, organic waste and sewage water and could be made available to multiple sectors including aviation, railways and the auto industry. He said that it was his dream to make green hydrogen available for as little as $1 per kg.

Gadkari also pushed the case for ethanol as an alternative fuel. He revealed that ethanol cost Rs 62 per litre and while the calorie value for ethanol was lower than petrol, Indian Oil had worked with Russian scientists to develop technology to give the two fuels equivalent calorie values. Gadkari said that the Petroleum Ministry had now certified the technology.

Gadkari also touched on his goals to make Indian road infrastructure at par with the USA before the end of 2024. He also cited that the country had tremendous potential in infrastructure development and technology including using greener alternative materials.
