Say Hello To The Lamborghini Jumpacan, The Crazy Desert Racing Cousin Of The Urus

- The Lamborghini Jumpacan is a special one-off build for The Mint 400
- The Lamborghini Jumpacan is based on the Huracan chassis
- The Mint 400 off-road desert race will take place in December this year
Lamborghinis sure know a thing or two about making SUVs. There was the LM002 back in the 1980s, while the famed Urus is literally setting the assembly line on fire with well over 15,000 units sold in nearly four years. But let's face it, you wouldn't dare take the Urus off-roading, and are definitely not jumping on trails and mountains and reefs. While that would be an SUV's playground, in theory, the Urus isn't just the Lamborghini that comes to mind to do that. Instead, it will be the 'Lamborghini Jumpacan' that looks more purpose-built.

The Lamborghini Jumpacan can be sliding around the desert doing donuts during high-speed tests
Now, before you start speculating, this isn't a new off-roader from the Italian automaker. Instead, it's a one-off special vehicle built by the guys at B is for Build. The guys there got the chassis from a Huracan that was destined for the scrapyard. They are now on the mission to build a wild desert racer to compete in the 2021 Mint 400 off-road race that is held in Las Vegas, US, every year. While the Mint 400 takes place in March annually, it's been pushed to December 1-5 this year due to the pandemic. The race bears participation from race cars, sedans, recreational vehicles and evens tanks, which promises quite a lot of fun we presume.
Do note that this is a private build and Lamborghini officially isn't a part of the project. Instead, the Jumpacan gets a Huracan chassis complete with the scissor doors and clearly, the theme here is more Mad Max: Fury Road. The team has also swapped the 5.2-litre V10 from the Huracan with the LS V8 engine. Power output though has not been revealed.

Instead of the 5.2-litre naturally-aspirated V10, the Jumpacan uses an LS V8
The video shows the Lamborghini Jumpacan embarking on high-speed tests in the desert, as well as doing donuts and taking big jumps as it drives on massive tyres and a bare-bones structure that will naturally make for a better power-to-weight ratio. With the Mint 400 still a few months away, it gives the guys at B for Build a good enough time frame to finish the project. We certainly can't wait to see what the final version will look like.
