Suzuki Gixxer Rear Disc Variant Launched; Priced at Rs. 79,726

Suzuki Motorcycle India has officially launched the Gixxer rear disc brake variant in the country priced at Rs. 79,726 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new variant was one of the showstoppers at the Suzuki pavilion during the 2016 Auto Expo alongside the new Access 125 and Gixxer SF, and gets subtle upgrades over the outgoing version. The Suzuki Gixxer now sports a 240mm rear disc brake with a single floating caliper, while cosmetic updates are limited to the new clear lens indicators, same as the updated Gixxer SF.

The inclusion of the rear disc brake was a result of customer feedback as the stopping power seemed lacking with respect to the overall performance of the bike. The move also seemed more important now considering the recently launched Honda CB Hornet 160R gets dual disc brake in addition to the Combi-Braking System. In addition, Suzuki India is now offering the new green and black dual-tone colour scheme on the Gixxer.
Power output though remains the same on the Suzuki Gixxer with the 154.9cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine churning out 14.5bhp of power at 8000rpm and 14Nm of torque at 6000rpm. The motor comes paired to a 5-speed gearbox and is equipped with the Suzuki Eco Performance (SEP) technology in a bid to improve the fuel efficiency which stands at a claimed 63.2 kmpl.

Apart from Gixxer street-fighter, Suzuki India will be introducing the rear disc brake on the Gixxer SF later on the year. The SF has also been updated with fuel-injection that is mated to the same 154.9cc motor, helping improve the throttle response on the motorcycle apart from fuel injection.
