Tata Tigor EV Launch Details Out; Pre-Bookings Open

Tata Motors today unveiled the Tigor EV in the country and it will be the second electric car which will be powered by the company's ZipTron technology. The company today said that the car will be launched on August 31, which is when prices for the car will be announced. Tata Motors' Head of Marketing, Passenger and EV Business, Vivek Srivatsa, said, "We have begun bookings from today for the Tigor EV and the car will be launched on August 31. The pre-bookings for the electric car too have begun and those wanting to book it can go online or even to the nearest showroom to do so."

Pre-bookings for the Tigor EV have begun online as also in showrooms
The booking amount for the Tigor EV has been set at Rs. 21,000. While a lot of details of the Tigor EV have poured out today, the company has not said anything about the range that it provides. The Ziptron powered NexonEV gets a range of 312 km on a single charge and we expect that the Tigor EV could get something closer to that. It gets the same 26 kWh lithium-ion battery, along with a new Permanent Magnet Synchronous electric motor. The electric motor puts out 55 kW power output (74 bhp) and 170 Nm of peak torque.

The Tigor EV takes under 60 minutes to charge from 0 to 80% by using a fast charger
The company says that the Tigor EV can do a 0 to 60 kmph sprint in just 5.7 seconds. As far as charging times go, on a fast charger, the Tigor EV can be charged from 0 to 80 per cent in under 60 minutes and the same using a home charger takes 8.5 hours.
When launched, the Tigor EV will be the most affordable electric vehicle in the country and yes, it will boost Tata Motors' EV portfolio and sales as well.
