Tata Zest Outsells Honda Amaze in October 2014

The newly launched Tata Zest outsold the year-old Honda Amaze in October, 2014 sales. The Zest that started rather slow, is gradually picking up pace in terms of sales, though it managed to sell only 42 units more than the Amaze. As compared to Honda Amaze's 3,482 units in the festive month, Tata sold 3,524 units of the Zest. The top two sellers of the segment, however, continue to be Maruti Swift Dzire and Hyundai Xcent at 17,950 and 4,629 units respectively.
Though the difference between the sales of Amaze and Zest is marginal, it is enough to give confidence to the folks at Tata Motors since people are now showing interest in their new product. The Zest is the first product from Tata's new breed of global cars that are superior in features, fit & finish, and ride & handling in comparison to their old models.

Despite the sales picking up gradually for the Zest, I, still, think that Tata Motors needs to promote the sedan far more aggressively. The vehicle has everything it takes to become a good entry-level sedan, including impressive ride quality, great suspension set-up and more importantly, a cabin with tons of features.
Just so you know, the Zest is available in both, petrol and diesel, engine options. Powering the petrol model of the car is the new 1.2-litre MPFi turbocharged 'Revotron' engine that is good for 89bhp and 140Nm. The diesel model, on the other hand, derives its power from the Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre multijet diesel unit that churns out a maximum power output of 89bhp and 200Nm.
