Two-Wheeler Sales December 2017: Royal Enfield Registers 16% Growth

Royal Enfield has announced achieving 16 per cent growth in overall sales in the month of December 2017. Royal Enfield sold a total of 66,968 motorcycles last month, which includes both the domestic market as well as the international exports.

Chennai-based motorcycle manufacturer Royal Enfield has announced achieving 16 per cent growth in overall sales in the month of December 2017. The company sold a total of 66,968 motorcycles last month, which includes both the domestic market as well as the international exports. During the same month last year, the company had sold 57,398 motorcycles cumulatively. Sales in the domestic market also saw an impressive growth of 16 per cent with 65,367 motorcycles being sold in December 2017, as opposed to the 56,316 motorcycles sold during the same month last year. Exports, on the other hand, shot up to 1,601 units, against the 1,082 units exported in December 2016, registering a growth of 47 per cent.

Sales for this fiscal year so far also say a massive growth with the company selling a total of 5,93,450 motorcycle between April-December 2017 period. During the same period, last fiscal year, Royal Enfield's cumulative sales went up to 4,88,262 units, thus registering an overall growth of 21 per cent. Domestic sales during the same period also went up by 21 per cent at 5,79, 462 units against the 4,77,688 motorcycles sold in India during April-December 2016 period. Like in December, exports during April-December 2017 saw a considerable growth of 32 per cent with the company exporting 13,988 motorcycles, compared to the 10,574 motorcycles exported during the same period last financial year.

Last month Royal Enfield also sold 15 limited edition Stealth Black Classic 500 motorcycles in a record time of 15 seconds. The aforementioned 15 motorcycles were ridden by Braveheart NSG Black Cat Commandos on a mission to raise awareness against terrorism. After the ride was completed, Royal Enfield put these motorcycles for sale online and from the time the bookings were opened, all 15 of them were booked and sold in mere 15 seconds. Interestingly, the entire proceeds from the sale went to Prerna, a non-profit initiative supported by NSG, which helps educate underprivileged and differently abled children.
