Two-Wheeler Sales March 2022: Bajaj Auto Registers 20 Per Cent Drop In Volumes

Bajaj Auto reported a sale of 297,188 units in March 2022, a decline of 20 per cent when compared to 369,448 units sold during the same month last year. The company's domestic sales for the last month stood at 126,752 units, down by 36 per cent year-on-year when compared to 198,551 units sold in March 2021. Exports, meanwhile, remained steady at 170,436 units in March 2022. Bajaj Auto's two-wheeler business saw a massive decline last month, while its commercial vehicle arm saw marginal growth.

In FY2022, Bajaj's two-wheeler sales grew by 6% largely backed by strong export demand
In the two-wheeler space, Bajaj Auto's domestic sales stood at 107,081 units last month, a decline of 41 per cent when compared to 181,393 units. Exports remained flat at 149,243 units in March 2022, against 148,740 units in March 2021. The commercial vehicle business saw a jump in domestic sales at 19,671 units, a rise of 15 per cent year-on-year, when compared to 17,158 units sold in March 2021. Exports dropped by 4 per cent from 22,157 units last year to 21,193 units this year.
With respect to year-to-date sales, Bajaj Auto's total sales grew by 8 per cent to 43,08,433 units in FY2021-22, as opposed to 39,72,914 units in FY2020-21. Two-wheeler sales grew by 6 per cent at 38,36,856 units last fiscal, thanks to the consistent growth in export numbers, while commercial vehicle sales stood at 471,577 units at the end of the year, registering a year-on-year growth of 28 per cent. For FY2022, domestic sales declined 6 per cent to 18,01,807 units while exports rose by 22 per cent to 25,06,626 units.
