- Lamborghini Huracan Performante and Jeep Compass are the highlights

- BMW Motorrad will be launching its India operations in April as well
The month of March 2017 saw a slew of cars and bikes being launched, starting with the Tata Tigor and the entry of Lexus in India. Triumph Motorcycles also launched the good-looking Bonneville Bobber along with new 2017 Kawasaki bikes. Apart from these, Honda also launched the WR-V while Maruti Suzuki launched the Baleno RS hot hatch in the country as well. The month of April 2017 too promises to be rather exciting with a plethora of car and bike launches lined up. Take a look.
Car Launches
1. Audi A3 Facelift:
(Audi A3 Facelift)Audi is all set to launch the facelifted version of its A3 subcompact premium sedan on 6 April, 2017. The updates on the A3 facelift include few cosmetic changes such as a slightly redesigned front bumper, tweaked grille, LED projector headlamps, and updated alloy wheel design and so on. The major change is that Audi will replace the old 1.8 Litre petrol engine on the A3 and offer a new modern 1.4 Litre motor instead, which also does duty on the new-gen A4. It makes 148 bhp and 250 Nm and gets Audi's Cylinder-on-Demand system. This is Audi's third launch in 2017 after the A3 Cabrio facelift and the new A4 diesel.
2. Volvo S60 Polestar:
The Swedish company will be launching the S60 Polestar Edition on 14 April, 2017 in India. You could say that Polestar is Volvo's Performance arm and this will be the first ever Volvo Polestar model to be launched in India. The S60 Polestar gets the same 2.0 Litre 4-cylinder petrol engine as on the S60 T6 variant but makes 362 bhp and 470 Nm and gets AWD as standard. Also, it gets some cosmetic tweaks so as to differentiate from the regular S60 T6. The features inside the cabin remain the same as they are in the regular model.
3. Jeep Compass:
(2017 Jeep Compass)Now this is something that has caught the fancy of SUV buyers. Jeep will be revealing its first ever made-in-India product, the Compass on 12 April, 2017. Just to re-iterate, this will not be a launch, in the sense that the company will not be revealing the prices. That will happen at a later date. The Compass will be the most affordable Jeep in India till the time the Renegade is launched. The exterior and interior design of the Compass has been inspired from the Grand Cherokee. Jeep says that the Compass will have a variety of engine options although it is unclear as to which ones will make it to India. The Compass will be manufactured at Fiat Chrysler Auto's facility in Ranjangaon, Pune and the expected starting price should be around Rs. 20 lakh.
4. Lamborghini Huracan Performante:
(Lamborghini Huracan Performante)Yep! The Lamborghini Huracan Performante will be launched in India on 7 April, 2017. It made its global unveil at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show and takes inspiration from the Lamborghini Super Trofeo race cars. The Huracan Performante gets carbon-fibre bits, which reduce the overall weight by 40 kgs, with respect to to regular Huracan. The sportscar gets a 5.2 Litre V10 engine that makes out 630 bhp and 600 Nm, making it Lambo's most powerful V10 ever. Claimed 0-100 kmph sprint time is less than 3 seconds and the top speed is 325 kmph. Expect the pricing to be eye-watering, as always.
Bike Launches
1. BMW Motorrad:
(BMW Motorrad is all set to launch its operations in India)The big happening in the two-wheeler segment is the official launch of BMW Motorrad and its operations in India on 14 April, 2017. Finally, one of the biggest performance two-wheeler manufacturers will step into India with its range of drool-worthy offerings. Unfortunately, the launch of the BMW G 310 R and the G 310 GS is still some time away. The company will get the likes of the S 1000 RR, S 1000 R, R nine T and best-selling R 1200 GS in the beginning. BMW Motorrad has no plans of setting up a facility in India for time being and therefore, all motorcycles will be brought to India as completely built units (CBUs). BMW Motorrad will be facing tough competition from the likes of Harley-Davidson, Triumph, Kawasaki, Ducati and so on.
