Volkswagen Ameo Highline Plus Trim To Be Launched; Priced From 7.45 Lakh

- The Volkswagen Ameo Highline Plus diesel is priced at Rs. 8.69 lakh
- The Ameo Highline Plus gets no cosmetic changes over the standars trims
- VW dealers are accepting bookings for the Ameo Highline Plus version
VW India's most affordable offering in the country, the Volkswagen Ameo subcompact sedan was launched last year and is doing decent numbers for the manufacturer. While the car is feature packed on most trims, the German auto giant is now offering a new range-topping variant called the Highline Plus on the Ameo. Volkswagen dealers have confirmed to carandbike.com about the availability of the new trim with prices starting around Rs. 7.45 lakh for the petrol version and Rs. 8.69 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom Mumbai) for the diesel option.

The Ameo Highline Plus gets no cosmetic changes over other variants
You pay a premium of around Rs. 10,000-15,000 over the Volkswagen Ameo Highline grade on the Highline Plus trim. For the additional amount, customers will now get 16-inch alloy wheels while the infotainment system has been revised and gets a reverse camera as standard. Apart from the change, the subcompact sedan does not get any changes visually or on the spec sheet over other variants.
The Volkswagen Ameo Highline Plus trim continues to use the 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine that makes 74 bhp of power at 5400 rpm and 110 Nm of torque at 3750 rpm. Meanwhile, diesel power comes from the 1.5-litre four-cylinder TDI that churns out 108 bhp at 4000 rpm and 250 Nm of peak torque between 1500-3000 rpm. Both engines come paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox, while the diesel motor also gets the option of a 7-speed DSG automatic.
The Highline Plus variant was first introduced on the Vento last year, adding new features and a subtle changes to the model. While the changes may not be too dramatic, it did help refresh the model amidst growing competition.

Volkswagen Ameo vs Honda Amaze vs Ford Figo Aspire
Volkswagen India seems to be taking a similar route with the Ameo Highline Plus, which gets subtle upgrades at a marginal price hike. The official launch of the Ameo Highline Plus trim is expected sometime next month, while dealerships are already accepting bookings for the new variant. The Ameo competes against the Hyundai Xcent, Tata Tigor, Honda Amaze and the segment leader Maruti Suzuki Dzire.
