Volkswagen ID.3 Facelift And GTX To Make Global Debut In 2023

- The Volkswagen ID.3 GTX will make its global debut next year.
- It will be based on the Volkswagen ID.3 facelift.
- The Volkswagen ID.3 facelift will be unveiled around the same time.
Volkswagen had confirmed launching an electric equivalent iteration of the Golf R last year and finally we now have an idea of when the new Volkswagen ID.3 GTX will hit the road. The German carmaker has shared that the GTX will be based on the ID.3 facelift and it will make its global debut in 2023, around the same time the ID.3 facelift will be unveiled. It'll join the ID.4 GTX and ID.5 GTX range and will be a part of Volkswagen's line up of performance-oriented electric models.

Volkswagen has shared that the GTX will be based on the ID.3 facelift.
The new Volkswagen ID.3 GTX will be equipped with an all-wheel-drive (AWD) system. While the ID.X concept had a punchy powertrain belting out around 325 bhp, Volkswagen has shared that the subsequent production car won't be as powerful when it comes to performance. The Volkswagen ID.5 GTX takes 6.2 seconds to do the 0-100 kmph sprint and the ID.3 GTX is expected to have sub-six-second sprint, considering it will be lighter in weight.

That said, Volkswagen has temporarily discontinued the ID.3 Pure edition thanks to the ongoing global semiconductor shortage. It only introduced the Pure edition of the ID.3 in January but now it is unavailable. Hence, it is too early to speculate when the production of the ID.3 facelift and GTX will begin. The standard Volkswagen ID.3 gets a 45 kWh battery pack with a 93 kW motor offering a WLTP range of 330 km and a maximum charging speed of 50 kW.
