12:23: The new diesel motor's performance figures are 103bhp of power and 250Nm of peak torque.

12:21: Volkswagen says the new Vento offers an ARAI certified mileage of 21.21Km/l.

12:20: New colour options on the Vento include toffee brown, and night blue.

12:18: The new Volkswagen Vento DSG TDI now comes with a price range of Rs. 10.49 - Rs. 10.94 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai).

12:17: ABS and dual airbags are now standard on the Vento.

12:15: Changes on the facelift include new 15-inch alloys, head-lamps, and flat-bottomed steering.

12:08: So it begins. Volkswagen says the Vento has done well for the company and they wish to tap new customers with the new car.

Among the many brands to launch new cars this season, Volkswagen has also added its name to list with the new Vento. To be launched in a while, the new Vento will come with a 1.5-litre TDI diesel engine and might also receive a handful of cosmetic updates. That said, the biggest change will be the addition of the new 1.5-litre diesel unit that currently does duty on the new Polo diesel. Just so you know, the 1.5-litre TDI engine is the stripped down version of the old 1.6-litre diesel motor. It will come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission as standard, while a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission will be offered as optional.
