- The Cynus Alpha gets a new top-end trim equipped with a front disc brake
- The scooter also gets two new colours - Radiant Cyan and Marvel Black
- Power continues to come from a 113cc single-cylinder producing 7bhp
Commenting on the introduction of the new variant, Roy Kurian, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Yamaha Motor India said, "The scooter market has witnessed rapid growth in the last few years and Yamaha has been able to make steady inroad in this segment. Yamaha is looking at reaching a 10 per cent market share by the end of this year and the introduction of this latest variant of the Cygnus Alpha scooter is expected to further propel its growth in the segment. This latest offering with disc brake is aimed at families who want that additional safety feature."

The Yamaha Cygnus Ray returns a claimed fuel efficiency of 66 kmpl
Yamaha describes the Cygnus Alpha as an "Easy to go and high utility city mover". In terms of power, the scooter uses a 113cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that churns out 7bhp at 7500rpm and 8.1Nm of torque at 5000rpm. The motor comes mated to a V-belt automatic transmission. The scooter comes equipped with the bike maker's Blue Core technology that helps in extracting more power and efficiency from the motor and as a result, helps the scooter return a claimed fuel economy figure of 66 kmpl.
Being a practical offering, the Yamaha Cygnus Alpha comes with a storage capacity of 21-litres. Other salient bits on the scooter include a flat long seat, large foot board, alloy wheels as well as new body graphics. The 110cc scooter segment is a highly contested one and the Yamaha scooter now provides a safer alternative compared to some of its rivals. The Cygnus Alpha front disc brake equipped version competes with the recently launched TVS Jupiter MillionR Special Edition that also receives a front disc brake upgrade.
