2022 Kawasaki Versys 1000 Introduced; New Base Variant Announced

- Base Versys 1000 will be priced lower than the S trim
- 2022 Kawasaki Versys 1000 expected to be introduced in India
- Base variant misses out on electronics, TFT instruments
The 2022 Kawasaki Versys 1000 range has been extended with the introduction of a new entry-level 'Standard' variant, as well as a new SE trim which will sit above the S variant. With three trim levels, the 2022 Versys 1000 will come with only minor changes, and retains the same signature look, as well as the 999 cc, inline four-cylinder engine which makes 118 bhp and 101 Nm of peak torque. Without the extra equipment of the S and SE models, the base variant loses weight, but still gets basic equipment.

The Versys 1000 Grand Tourer includes standard panniers and more pillion comfort.
A quickshifter, heated grips, hand guards and a high windshield are also available for extra. At 253 kg, the base variant is 2 kg less heavy than the S, and four kg heavier than the SE. Kit levels on the Versys 1000 SE over the S trim includes the addition of electronically damped Showa Skyhook suspension and other electronic rider aids. Prices for the Versys 1000 SE starts at 14,999 GBP (approximately Rs. 15.21 lakh), rising to 16,699 GBP (approximately Rs. 16.93 lakh) for the Grand Tourer with larger panniers and more practical pillion comfort.

The standard Versys 1000 is priced at 12,099 GBP (approximately Rs. 12.27 lakh), and misses out on electronic rider aids and riding modes and TFT instruments. The base model Versys 1000 will be available in the UK and other parts of Europe from February 2022. Considering the Versys 1000 was offered on sale in India as well, the new base model should make for an attractive proposition in the Indian market as well, provided Kawasaki India manages to price it well.
