2022 Yamaha MT-10 SP With Electronic Suspension Unveiled

- Yamaha MT-10 SP gets latest Ohlins semi-active suspension, other updates
- 2022 Yamaha MT-10 already updated with more power, refreshed design
- Updated 998 cc, CP4 engine with new internals makes 164 bhp, 112 Nm
Yamaha Europe has unveiled a top-spec version of the Yamaha MT-10 super naked with semi-active suspension and other upgrades. The 2022 Yamaha MT-10 SP comes just weeks after the updated MT-10 was unveiled with more power, improved brakes, new TFT dash and refreshed styling. The MT-10 SP becomes the first production bike equipped with the latest semi-active system from Ohlins. The "next generation" version of semi-active suspension uses "spool valve damping technology" which gives greater range of damping adjustment and higher degree of response.

The MT-10 SP becomes the first production motorcycle to feature the latest-generation semi-active suspension from Ohlins
The electronic suspension now has three selectable semi-active modes, A1, A2 and A3, which are essentially Sport, Sport Touring and Touring, where the system constantly adjusts rebound and compression damping. There are also three manual mode equivalents, called M1, M2 and M3. According to Yamaha, the new Ohlins system is the highest technology ever fitted to a production motorcycle, and even more advanced than the current Yamaha R1M superbike.

The 2022 Yamaha MT-10 SP is expected to go on sale in Europe by mid-2022
The 2022 Yamaha MT-10 SP also gets a new three-piece belly pan to help protect the oil cooler, as well as new graphics to give it fresh appeal, and a race-bred, super-naked look. While the MT-10 already got a new radial brake master cylinder, the SP takes the braking system a notch higher with braided hoses for better braking feel. The new Yamaha MT-10 SP is expected to be launched sometime in mid-2022, but sadly, this super naked, which will go up against the likes of the Triumph Speed Triple and Ducati Streetfighter, is not expected to be offered on sale in India.

The MT-10 SP also gets a new three-piece belly pan. The 998 cc CP4 engine remains the same as the standard MT-10, now with 164 bhp.
The updated 998 cc CP4 engine, which has been tweaked to offer more power, better efficiency and also a better exhaust note had already been updated for the standard MT-10. The changes are in the engine internals, with heavier offset steel con-rods, lightweight aluminium forged pistons, and direct-plated cylinders which are said to not just maximise efficiency, but also offer meatier torque between 4,000 and 8,000 rpm. The bike's power has increased from 158 bhp to 164 bhp, while peak torque increases from 111 Nm to 112 Nm, peaking at 9,000 rpm.
