Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India (HMSI) has unveiled the Honda Africa Twin performance adventure bike at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo and has announced that it will be assembled in India. The company also revealed that the Africa Twin will be launched in the country in 2016-end.
The Africa Twin is a name revered among adventure motorcyclists around the world. In India, the bike will seek to create some of that magic and to grab a slice of the growing adventure touring segment. It will compete against the likes of the Triumph Tiger series.
The Honda Africa Twin maintains a tall and slender stance and employs a 998cc parallel-twin engine with a unicam four-valve design and a 270 degree crankshaft. The engine develops 94bhp of power at 7500rpm and 98Nm of torque at 6000rpm and will have the Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC). The India-spec version will come with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
The bike is an extremely capable off-roader thanks to its long travel fully-adjustable Showa fork and shock absorber, 310mm front discs with four piston calipers and 256mm rears, 21-inch front tyre, 18-inch rear tyre and 250mm of ground clearance. It is also equipped with ABS with rear ABS on-off functionality.

It sports twin headlamps and LED indicators. Also, Honda claims that the 18.8-litre fuel tank gives the bike a range of 400km.
The Honda Africa Twin is a successor to the XRV 750. The legendary adventure tourer is based on the 4-time Paris-Dakar rally winning Honda NXR 750.
