Auto Expo 2018: BMW Motorrad Confirms F 750 GS, F 850 GS Launch

- The BMW F 750 GS and F 850 GS debuted at the 2017 EICMA Show
- Both bikes share the same 853 cc engine but with different outputs
- Prices for the new GS models are expected to start from Rs. 15 lakh
The BMW F 750 GS and the BMW F 850 GS both share a new 853 cc, parallel-twin engine but with different state of tunes on both bikes. According to BMW Motorrad, both middleweight adventure bikes are fairly different in characteristics and personality and will cater to different buyers. Both bikes get new design, a new frame and new suspension. Both bikes are compact and lightweight and will offer a slightly smaller alternative to big adventure touring bikes available in the market right now.

(BMW F 750 GS gets lower power and alloy wheels, compared to the F 850 GS)
The 853 cc, parallel-twin engine gets a 90-degree offset crankshaft and a 270-degree firing interval which provides more torque lower in the rev range. Additionally, dual counterbalancers make the engine smoother and more refined in operation. The engine will be mated to a six-speed transmission with a slipper clutch. Both bikes are built on a monocoque steel bridge frame and the engine acts as a stressed member, helping further reduce weight.
On the BMW F 750 GS, the engine makes 77 bhp and 83 Nm of peak torque, while on the BMW F 850 GS, the engine makes 85 bhp and 92 Nm of torque. Both motorcycles get a new front fork, a 43 mm upside down in the F 850 GS, and a 41 mm telescopic fork on the F 750 GS. BMW's electronic suspension adjustment is optional, and both bikes come with ABS, a choice of two riding modes. The F 750 GS will get alloy wheels while the F 850 GS will feature wire spoked wheels. Both bikes will be sold as completely built units (CBUs), so expect prices in the range of Rs. 15 lakh (ex-showroom).
