BMW R1200GS Models Power BMW Motorrad Q1 Sales

BMW Motorrad has posted its best ever sales figures for any quarter in the first quarter of 2016, selling 33,788 bikes in the first three months of 2016, up from last year's sale of 31,370 units. The bulk of these sales were accounted for in March, when BMW delivered 16,465 units to customers in one single month.

BMW Motorrad has posted its best ever sales figures for any quarter in the first quarter of 2016, selling 33,788 bikes in the first three months of 2016, up from last year's sale of 31,370 units. The bulk of these sales were accounted for in March, when BMW delivered 16,465 units to customers in one single month.

The rise in sales, of 2,418 units comes to a 7.7 per cent growth in the first quarter of 2016 for BMW Motorrad, compared to the same period last year. 

BMW's current growth is largely led by large displacement bikes - particularly by its best-selling BMW R1200GS adventure tourer models accounting for 11,391 units. After the R1200GS, the next best selling bike is the supersport bike BMW S1000RR, with 2,385 units sold, followed by the sport tourer S1000XR with 2,206 unit sales.

BMW Motorrad is rapidly growing in European and Asian markets, with Spain accounting for the highest sales growth. Sales grew in Spain by over 39 per cent, Italy 6.4 per cent, Great Britain over 9.2 per cent, Germany over 5.6 per cent and France with 2.4 per cent growth.
