BMW Motorrad Expands Presence With Dealerships In Chennai And Kochi

- BMW Motorrad is currently setting up its team and network in India
- The new dealerships will retain the complete motorcycle line-up
- A larger presence will help BMW Motorrad when it introduces the G 310 R
BMW Motorrad made its official entry in India earlier this year and the German motorcycle maker has been expanding its network aggressively and is now making its presence felt in the south. BMW Motorrad has inaugurated two new dealerships located in Chennai and Kochi respectively. Both dealers will be retailing the manufacturer's complete motorcycle line-up and take BMW Motorrad's total dealership count to nine pan India. This week will also see BMW introduce the K1600 B and R Nine T Racer motorcycles at the upcoming India Bike Week 2017 on November 24.

The dealership in Kochi, Kerala has been named as 'EVM Autokraft' and is located at Angel Plaza, NH47, South Kalamassery. The newest dealership will be managed by dealer principal Sabu Johny. Meanwhile, the company has appointed KUN Motorrad as its dealer partner in Chennai. The dealership is headed by U Venkatesh, dealer principal, KUN Motorrad. The new showroom is located at RR Complex, Anna Salai in Chennai. The manufacturer says its new outlets in India are built to the company's global standards.

Apart from the dealerships in Chennai and Kochi, BMW Motorrad showrooms are currently located in Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, Bangalore and Ahmedabad. The company is in the process of establishing its presence further in the country and is setting up the team and dealer network. Shivapada Ray has been appointed as the Head of BMW Motorrad in India.
BMW Motorrad dealerships will display the company's complete range including the BMW S 1000 RR, BMW R 1200 RS, BMW R 1200 RT, BMW K 1600 GTL, BMW R 1200 R, BMW R NineT, BMW R 1200 GS, BMW S 1000 XR among others. All the models arrive in the country as Completely Built-up Units (CBU).

Having sold their bikes privately over the years, BMW Motorrad first announced its plans to officially enter in India at the 2016 Auto Expo, while operations commenced a little over a year later. The aggressive expansion is also the foundation for the German auto giant to introduce its most affordable offering in India - BMW G 310 R. The bike is built at the TVS facility in Hosur and is exported globally. The domestic launch though is expected sometime in 2018. The BMW F750GS and F850GS showcased at EICMA earlier this month reportedly could also make its way to India next year.
