Car Sales October 2021: Honda's YoY Sales Drop 25%

- Honda Cars India's domestic sales stood at 8,108 units
- Compared to 6,765 units sold in September 2021 Honda saw 20% MoM growth
- Honda Cars India exported a total of 1,747 units in October 2021
Honda Cars India has released the monthly sales numbers for October 2021. Last month, the company's domestic sales stood at 8,108 units, a decline of 25 per cent compared to 10,836 units during the same month in 2020. However, compared to 6,765 units sold in September 2021, the company saw a month-on-month growth of 20 per cent. The company says that it is currently facing challenges due to supply-related constraints, which has been caused due to the global shortage of semiconductor chips.

Compared to 6,765 units sold in September 2021, the company saw a month-on-month growth of 20 per cent in October 2021

Commenting on October 2021 sales performance, Rajesh Goel, Sr. Vice President and Director, Marketing & Sales, Honda Cars India Ltd said, "In terms of demand, the festive buying kept pace with last year and continues to show good momentum. Our factory despatches during October 2021 increased by 20 per cent as compared to September 2021 and we were able to wholesale our entire factory stock of the month. While the situation still remains dynamic due to the ongoing supply-side challenges, we are making all possible efforts to maintain a steady delivery pace and catering to the market demand effectively."

As for exports, Honda Cars India exported a total of 1,747 units in October 2021. In comparison, the company only exported 84 units during the same month in 2020, thus witnessing a massive YoY growth. However, a more apt comparison would be with September 2021 exports, which stood at 2964 units. Compared to that, the company saw a MoM decline of 41 per cent.
