Clear Images Reveal The New Ducati Multistrada 939 Ahead Of EICMA Debut

- The Multistrada 939 shares its powertrain with the new 939 SuperSport
- The Multistrada 939 uses the same swingarm as the 1200 version
- The tourer is likely to debut at EICMA and could make it to India as well
The Adventure Tourer segment will soon get a more affordable option from Ducati Motor as the Italian bike maker is gearing up to introduce a smaller variant of the Multistrada - the Multistrada 939, for 2017. While we have seen the bike being tested in Europe on a couple of occasions, the new Multistrada 939 has been finally caught completely undisguised ahead of its expect debut at the EICMA Motorcycle Show this November.
Much like the recently revealed Ducati 939 SuperSport, the upcoming Ducati Multistrada 939, as the name suggests, borrows the 937cc twin-cylinder powertrain from the Hypermotard 939. The motor will also power the Monster later in the timeline.
That said, the new Ducati Multistrada 939 still retains several elements from the bigger 1200cc Multistrada bikes. So, the smaller 939 gets a double-sided siwngarm borrowed from the bigger version, while the bike uses Pirelli Scorpion Trail II tyres. The TFT instrument cluster will also make it to the 939, but could be tweaked.

Ducati Multistrada 939 could make its debut at EICMA
In addition, expect to see a plethora of electronics on the Multistrada 939 including Ducati Traction Control (DTC), ride-by-wire with multiple riding modes, ABS and much more. That said, it will be interesting to see if cruise control, cornering ABS and an electronically adjustable suspension make it to the baby Multistrada.
The Multistrada 939 makes a lot of sense as Ducati continues to make a stronger presence in emerging markets across Asia, Moreover, popularity for adventure tourers too is on the rise, especially in India, something Triumph has greatly benefitted from. We expect Ducati to introduce the Multistrada 939 in the Indian market as well, where the model will lock horns with the Triumph Tiger 800, Kawasaki Versys 1000, BMW F800 GS as well as the upcoming Honda Africa Twin. Could there be an Enduro variant joining the line-up? We certainly hope so!
