The Ducati SuperSport was first teased at the 2016 World Ducati Week that was held at Misano, Italy. And the iconic Italian motorcycle manufacturer unveiled the SuperSport at the ongoing Intermot Motorcyle Show. While the 959 Panigale and the 1299 Panigale are still an integral part of Ducati's model portfolio, it thought that these two motorcycles are a little too extreme for day-to-day use. And that is where the SuperSport comes in. Ducati is claiming that this model which strikes a chord with regular users as well as track enthusiasts.
The Ducati SuperSport gets a 937cc, twin-cylinder Testatretta engine which belts out 113bhp. The torque curve is claimed to be as linear as possible so as to make it easier for daily use but the specific numbers are yet to come. There are 3 riding modes on offer, which are the Sport, Touring and Urban. The SuperSport gets the Ducati Safety Pack, which includes a 3-level Bosch ABS unit and the Ducati traction control with 8 levels. The SuperSport S version additionally gets a fully adjustable Ohlins suspension unit and the Ducati Quick Shift system.
(2017 Ducati SuperSport)Ducati says that the SuperSport has a relatively easy-going character with a relaxed riding position and rider-friendly handling. The windscreen too deflects a decent bit of air and is adjustable for height. With a 16-litre fuel tank, Ducati also believes that the SuperSport will be a good motorcycle to have on medium-distance rides.
(2017 Ducati SuperSport)One can expect that Ducati will get the SuperSport to India sometime next year positioning it below the 959 Panigale. Expect a price point which will be lower than the 959's Rs. 14 lakh.
