F1: Aston Martin Protest FIA Decision To Disqualify Vettel After Finding New Evidence

Aston Martin isn't having the best season even though its star signing Sebastian Vettel has shown signs that he is returning to his former self which won him 4 world titles on the trot. Vettel finished P2 in Hungary, but his result was disqualified by the FIA after it was found that his car didn't have the required amount of minimum fuel. The team had 96 hours to gather evidence but that time expired Thursday evening and after that, the team decided to protest the FIA's decision.

"Since the team's data indicated that there was more than 1.0 litre of fuel in the car after the race - 1.74 litres according to the data - the team immediately reserved its right to appeal, and has requested a right of review alongside the appeal procedure, as a result of having discovered significant new evidence relevant to the sanction which was unavailable to it at the time of the FIA stewards' decision", it says on the website.

Aston Martin didn't have this evidence when the FIA decided to disqualify Vettel from his valiant P2. If Vettel were to get his position back, Hamilton will drop down to P3 and Carlos Sainz will lose his podium to P4 while Max Verstappen will drop down to P10.

Vettel had to stop the car after the race was over and he was unable to bring it back to the pits. FIA stipulates the car should have a minimum of 1-litre fuel, but it only managed to extract 0.3 litres while Aston Martin claims that it had more than 1 litre available something it intends to prove with the new evidence.
